With over 16 years of practice, Michael has become a specialist in a variety of physical injuries. These include–but aren’t restricted to–lower back disorders, postural/ergonomic dysfunction, ankle and shoulder injuries, along with post-surgical pain. He is equally invested in sports physical therapy, to treat injuries caused during practice, races and in competitions. In 2004, Michael graduated from Ithaca College with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Back then, his main focus was on preventive and restorative therapy. There he learned how to improve proper movement patterns and promote pain-free functional mobility. Over the years, he has adapted his physical treatment programs according to the individual needs of his patients.  You can expect him to refine his treatment strategies and integrate modern techniques to meet your goals.  He has significant experience utilizing Kinesio Taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Neubie/Neufit, among other things. Outside the clinic, Michael enjoys spending quality time with his lovely wife and daughters. He also loves exploring the great outdoors. His favorite activities include hiking, running, and cycling. Daniel Ryan

        At present, Dan has been a practicing Physical Therapist for over 16 years. He received his Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford in 2003. After that, he teamed up with his brother to open a private practice.  Dan specializes in the principles of functional biomechanics to analyze a patient’s movement and postural alignment. His accurate diagnosis helps determine the source of pain and dysfunction. He then uses specialized physical therapy to correct the movement and alleviate the pain.   Dan lives in Hawthorne with his wonderful wife and two daughters. When he’s off-duty, you can find Dan outdoors engaged in different activities (e.g. running, biking, and swimming). He has also participated in several local and statewide triathlons and marathons. Diana Mattina

Diana Mattina

Our resident women’s health and pelvic floor physical therapist is a dedicated professional. With a background in dance, she occasionally took physical therapy due to several dance injuries. Eventually, those sessions, piqued her interest in this field and she decided to become a physical therapist. Diana graduated from Rutgers University after completing her Bachelor of Science in 2011. She earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014 from the same institution. After three years of professional experience, Diana decided to advance her career by joining Specialized Therapy. Her initial focus was on the diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic and neurological conditions. Later on, she decided to switch specialization by focusing on women’s health and physical therapy. She studied this branch of physical therapy at Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. There she learned to treat women with pelvic floor dysfunction. She plans to expand her expertise on Pelvic Floor and Women’s Health by continuing her studies. Additionally, Diana is a member of APTA’s Section on Women’s Health. To her, women’s health is an underrepresented and often misdiagnosed area of the community. As a pelvic floor physical therapist, she plans to dedicate her life to fill these gaps and create comprehensive treatment plans for pelvic dysfunctions in women. Her past experiences as a patient make it easier for her to connect with women who come for treatment. She believes that building a safe environment and comfortable puts the patients at ease. With her by your side, you will find it easier to achieve your fitness goals.
