Post-Concussion Training

A concussion is an injury to the brain, resulting from a trauma to the head. A concussion affects multiple aspects of a child or adult’s health, including the vestibular system (balance), vestibulo-ocular reflex, cognition, mood, cervical spine (neck), and overall conditioning. Physical therapy will aim to treat the various aspects affected.

Post Concussion Training

The vestibular system is one of the main components responsible for balance, which is likely to be impaired after a concussion.

The vestibulo-ocular reflex helps you to maintain stabilization of your eyes when you move your head. This reflex often becomes disturbed after a concussion. Training of this reflex involves exercises with moving the eyes

Hands on massage, stretching, and exercises help to improve range of motion of the cervical spine.

Deconditioning after a concussion is common. Therapists will guide you back into cardiovascular exercises progressing your tolerance as needed.
