Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy

Feeling dizzy or off balance is a very uncomfortable feeling. There are many reasons as to why you may be feeling dizzy. One of the reasons is an impairment of the vestibular system.  The vestibular system is comprised of a small but complex unit inside each ear that attaches to different structures, including the eyes, brain, and muscles. The purpose of the system is to help maintain balance and equilibrium of posture and eye stabilization with movement and head turning.

Attending therapy when you are feeling dizzy can be frightening and intimidating, but your therapists will gently guide you through the examination process to determine why you are having symptoms. Balance/Vestibular disorders we treat include, but are not limited to:

– Benign Paroxysmal Peripheral Vertigo (BPPV)

– Vertigo

– General balance disorders

– Unilateral and bilateral vestibular hypofunction

– Acoustic neuroma

– Concussion and post-concussion syndrome

– Neuronitis

– Sensory disorders

Treatment method will depend on your diagnosis and will begin on the first day after your evaluation.
